This is going to be a different type of show review. I will try not to write unnecessary fluff and hopefully it's details you want to hear. So lets just say the Santa Clara Avalon Nightclub crowd was very antsy to see A$AP. It has been already 3 hours since the doors have opened and the audience booed the opening act off stage and was not feeling DJ Aspect's anti-mixing mainstream playlist. Rapper G-Eazy literally performed no more than 15 minutes with loads of "sound problems". DJ Aspect's comes back on the decks with an anti-mixing old school playlist that the fans appreciated. Finally at 11ish, the A$AP Mob comes on the stage as Rocky opens his set with Pretty Flocka. From then on the crowd was hyped on every single song. Whether it was Brand New Guy, Get Lit, Roll Up, the energy level was at a high for about a hour long performance. And obviously everyone loved Purple Swag, Peso and Wassup. A$AP Rocky overall seemed like a humble, funny guy enjoying life. He cracked many jokes and simply wanted to have fun with his fans. Many of them threw weed and lighters at him as well. He crowd surfed and danced in the crowd numerous of times. At the end, he closed the show with Peso and A$AP's DJ was spinning Biggie tracks in honor of his death as Rocky brought fans on stage to dance. For you fashionistas out there, Rocky was rocking a University of Michigan black beanie (later a San Jose one someone handed to him), Pigalle Crewneck, Black Scale Pocket Tee and Jordan cement 4s. I don't have a zoom lens and couldn't move around the crowd, so the photos are pretty simliar. I have to get a press pass somehow next time. Overall, I don't relate to A$AP's music much, but his persona and his attitude was appealing to me. His stage presence and delivery was on point and knew how to put on a solid show. I hope to see big things for the Mob in future.
I ran into Jeff Bernat after the show. Apparently he already knew about effulgence. Right on Jeff!
Thanks to my friend Anshil for the video and the Bernat picture.
