I was fortunate enough to witness Ab-Soul's first (emcee said first, Soul's twitter says second) headlining show at The New Parish in Oakland. I admit, I didn't f!#% Soul's tunes before Control System, but to me, it doesn't matter when you discover a new artist, they'll appreciate new eardrums regardless. Ab's positive messages and lyrical ability is something beneficially to the game. I see the Black Hippy collective going far. Soul had positive vibes and energy throughout his solid performance. I wish next time he would talk more in between songs to get more personality and background. He even brought out SF's own The Jealous Guys out on stage to perform Brainwashed By London. There was also 3 opening acts, K. Rudd, RGLND & Shark Sinatra. I didn't know any of the 3 prior to the event, but RGLND expressed me the most. He had a variety performance from his mobbin' music to his slow downed women track. K. Rudd's crew had that A$AP style vibe and Shake Sinatra stage presence was terrible, probably because he was too crossfaded. But after checking them out on the tube, all 3 are solid studio artists and are worth a listen.
