PARRA + VICTOR MOSCOSO

SFMOMA hosted a new art exhibit for dutch artist Parra this past weekend. I'm a big fan of Parra's work with his unique hand drawn lettering, choice of colors and cartoon figurines. And of course I love his collaborations with Nike, Vans, Stussy and his own line Rockwell. My assumption was a wide range exhibit of numerous works from Parra, but wasn't disappointed to see a painted sixty foot mural titled "Weirded It Out". Best of all Parra and legendary psychedelic poster artist Victor Moscoso had a hour long conversation for the museum goers. And all of this was free because of SFMOMA's first Tuesday of the month free day! Both gentleman were very humble filled with lots of humor. It was interesting to hear two generations of artist having different experiences throughout their career and their path to success. I've learned from them that sometimes you have to take opportunities and risks that aren't totally in direction of your visions for your brand to get the name out there. You can have the greatest work of your craft, but if distributors are non existent to get it out to the public, no one is going to see it. In the beginning you need to the cease any opportunity to spread your craft, then when success comes you can be picky with who you want to work with. But personally I'm still quite indecisive about that because I want to stay true to effulgence as much as possible. But to sum it up Mr. Moscoso said it perfectly, if you really want something you'll will have a good chance of getting it with a little bit of luck of course.
