HIP-HOP IN THE PARK

UCBerkeley Students for Hiphop hosted it's 14th annual Hip-Hop in the Park Saturday. This years line up consisted of local acts from Rocky Rivera, Otayo Dubb and Raw G. The event also featured performances from Kurse and Invincible. But two Seattle underground powerhouses, Macklemore and Blue Scholars, rocked the stage for me.

Macklemore acting crazy, standing on speakers and transforming into his Great Britain alter ego as he performed And W e Danced:

Event Coordinators saved the best for last. Geologic and Sabzi rocked Peoples Park especially performing New People Empire Remix. Geo even jumped into the crowd for the last song. Bambu even made a special appearance:

Rocky Rivera & Otayo Dubb:

Geo in the crowd & Do D.A.T., a great host:

The heat in Berkeley was excruciating that Saturday. My brother even got a sunglasses tan (haha sucker). There were also a talented breakdancing and popping cypher where I spent most of time during the Invincible performance, her music did not appeal to my ears. But the best part of the day was a local fan came up to my friend, Malcolm, wearing the Wilson Wallace shirt wanting information on the brand. I was in an awe. My first random encounter.
